Any air conditioner running on freon requires periodic refueling. A properly installed split air conditioner requires approximately once every 24 months. Refueling split systems
Refueling household air conditioners with freon is one of the most demanded services of service centers.
When refueling is required:
- after compressor repair;
- after replacing the 4-way valve;
- after refueling port repair;
- after the repair of the condenser or evaporator;
- after replacing part of the cold line.
If the air conditioner runs on multicomponent freon, it will not be possible to refuel it.
The components of such freon have different physical qualities and evaporate unevenly. It is necessary to completely drain and fill with new refrigerant.
Refueling of household air conditioners with freon is carried out by the following methods:
- by weight;
- by pressure;
- by the method of hypothermia;
- with visual control through a control window.
Any of the listed methods of refueling household air conditioners requires certain skills and knowledge. You will also need special equipment, which not everyone knows how to use. The procedure takes about 30 minutes. The home air conditioner cannot be removed for refueling.
If the refrigerant leak is large, diagnostics are carried out and the leaks are identified. The operation of the equipment is badly affected by an excess of refrigerant and an increased pressure in the line. Therefore, you should not try to refuel your home air conditioner yourself.
Refueling mobile and window air conditioners
Mobile and window air conditioners are monoblocks. Their freon line is filled at the factory and is completely sealed. The question of refueling a mobile air conditioner can arise after many years of operation or if the pipes are damaged, which happens very rarely.
If the split air conditioner is charged at the place of its installation, then window and mobile air conditioners are charged with refrigerant only in service centers. Most manufacturers do not solder the filling ports at all. Therefore, if there is no port, you cannot do anything at home with air conditioning. Nipples are soldered in service workshops.
To refuel a monoblock household air conditioner, you will have to almost completely disassemble its body, which threatens to break some parts.
