Silent air conditioners for bedroom and home

The noise of an air conditioner can be as quiet as a breeze, or it can bring people to headaches and scandals with their neighbors. How to find the quietest air conditioner? What level of noise in the apartment do they give out and can you trust the sellers?

How is noise measured?

Silent Air Conditioners or Quiet Air ConditionersThe unit of measurement is decibel. Although the counting is carried out from "0", but 25 decibels is a noise that is almost imperceptible to the human ear. This indicator is very important when choosing the quietest air conditioner for a bedroom or children's room.

Quiet air conditioners for such a room should produce 26 to 36 decibels (indoor unit) and 28 to 54 decibels (outdoor unit). A less quiet air conditioner of 35 - 45 decibels can be installed in the office.

Many buyers, when choosing air conditioners for the bedroom, are chasing the lowest hum rate. However, sometimes the device with the promised 32 decibels is quieter than the one in the instructions which says 26 decibels. Mobile air conditioners cannot be classified as the quietest. They give out at least 45 decibels.

Where does the noise come from?

The answer is that any of the quietest air conditioners has more than one operating mode and the hum with each of them has its own. The hum from the fan produces moving airflow through the fan, louvers, and radiator. So, by reducing the fan speed as much as possible, you can achieve the quietest operation. However, even the quietest air conditioner does not operate in just one mode all the time. For example, when it is hot outside, the equipment at minimum speed will not cope with cooling. The latest models of silent air conditioners automatically switch the fan speed when needed. This is necessary to prevent breakdowns and create optimal conditions for consumers. The harder the air conditioner operates, the more noise it produces. Therefore, do not rely solely on the minimum figure indicated by the manufacturer.

This may be a commercial move and may not reflect the actual noise level in the apartment after installation.

So, if at different speeds the noise level is 28 - 32 - 35 decibels, the consultant in the store will most likely mention only the first digit of 28 decibels.

Inexpensive models from little-known manufacturers do not belong to the category of the quietest bedroom air conditioners. They can sin with gurgling refrigerant or clicking when switching a relay.

In order not to hear such sounds, do not skimp when purchasing equipment.

What are the quietest air conditioners?

It is difficult to find an answer to the question: "which air conditioners for the bedroom are the quietest", because the technique is constantly being improved, including in the direction of reducing the noise level.

There are no mobile models among the quietest air conditioners. These are just inverter split systems:

  • Mitsubishi Electric MSZ - a series of very quiet air conditioners, the minimum noise level is only 21 decibels;
  • Daikin FTXS - inverter models with an original design and a noise level of 22 decibels;
  • Panasonic CS-E - inverter systems with a noise level of 26 decibels and a special set of unique filters.
